Puss in Boots Brings Winter Magic to The Baxter

Cape Town families looking for a memorable winter school holiday outing will soon have the chance to step into a world of music, laughter and theatrical adventure when Puss in Boots opens at The Pam Golding Theatre at The Baxter on 26 June. Presented by KickstArt Theatre Productions, the popular family pantomime runs until 18 July and promises entertainment for audiences of all ages.
The production follows the adventures of the quick-witted feline hero Puss in Boots, who finds himself on a magical Caribbean island filled with colourful characters, unexpected challenges and plenty of comic mischief. Audiences can expect lively musical numbers, energetic choreography, audience participation and a cast packed with larger-than-life personalities. The production stars Rory Booth as Puss, alongside Belinda Henwood, Bryan Hiles, Kyran Brady Taylor, Blessing Xaba and a talented ensemble of performers and dancers.
The show continues a growing winter theatre tradition at The Baxter following the success of last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk. Written and directed by Steven Stead, with design by Greg King and choreography by Simone Mann, the production combines classic pantomime storytelling with contemporary humour and local flavour. Its appeal lies in its ability to entertain children with spectacle and slapstick while offering enough wit and charm to keep adults thoroughly engaged.
Running throughout the school holidays, Puss in Boots offers Cape Town audiences an opportunity to enjoy live theatre at a time when families are searching for shared experiences. The production opens on 26 June and runs until 18 July at The Pam Golding Theatre at The Baxter. With its blend of comedy, music and theatrical magic, it is set to be one of the season’s standout family attractions.
