Ster-Kinekor Unveils Packed School Holiday Movie Line-Up for Families
South African families heading into the mid-year school holidays will have a wide range of entertainment options as Ster-Kinekor rolls out a programme of family films, special cinema experiences and value-driven promotions across its national circuit.
Leading the holiday schedule is the release of Toy Story 5 on 19 June, marking the return of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the beloved toy-box gang. The latest instalment also features South African music star Tyla, who voices a new character in the film. A week later, Minions & Monsters arrives in cinemas, bringing the popular animated franchise back to the big screen. Selected Ster-Kinekor venues will also host Minions character appearances and family-friendly activities between 27 June and 19 July.
The holiday offering continues with the live-action adaptation of Moana, releasing on 10 July. The film follows the young voyager’s journey beyond her island home and is expected to be one of the major family releases of the season. Younger audiences can also enjoy these titles in Ster-Kinekor’s dedicated Kids’ Cinema venues, which feature colourful play-focused environments designed specifically for children.
For moviegoers looking to revisit classic favourites, Ster-Kinekor’s Throwback Cinema programme will screen Stuart Little from 26 June, followed by the 1982 musical Annie from 10 July. Both films will be available at a reduced ticket price as part of the promotion.
Teen and adult audiences are also catered for with the arrival of Supergirl on 25 June and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey on 17 July, both releasing on IMAX screens where available.
With a diverse mix of family films, nostalgic favourites and blockbuster releases, cinemas are expected to remain a popular destination throughout the school holiday period, offering entertainment options for audiences of all ages.
