Nederburg to Host the Cape Wine Auction’s New Era of Celebration

Nederburg, one of South Africa’s most iconic wine estates, is set to reclaim its place at the centre of the country’s wine heritage. Fifty years after hosting the first fine wine auction in 1975 to debut its famous Edelkeur noble late harvest, the historic Paarl winery has been confirmed as the new home of The Cape Wine Auction (TCWA) — the country’s premier philanthropic wine event.

A partnership between HEINEKEN Beverages (owner of Nederburg) and The Cape Wine Auction Trust will see the annual gala move to Nederburg from 2026. The event raises millions for education, skills development, and social upliftment initiatives across the Cape Winelands.

Paul Clüver, chairman of the Cape Wine Auction Trust, says the move signals a new chapter: “Through this partnership, and the introduction of The Celebration, we’re broadening our reach and welcoming more people into the magic of what this event is all about: changing lives.”

The first edition at Nederburg will take place on Saturday, 7 February 2026, transforming the estate into a vibrant open-air festival. Guests can expect live music, gourmet food stations, curated wine stands, craft cocktails, interactive lounges, and the signature barrel and experience auctions featuring ultra-exclusive wine and lifestyle lots.

Kate Jackson, Nederburg’s general manager, says the event honours the estate’s legacy while embracing a more inclusive future. “The Nederburg Auction was once the pinnacle of excellence in Cape wine, but it was trade-only. Today, The Cape Wine Auction opens its doors to the public, creating a festive and inspiring forum to support Winelands communities.”

Proceeds benefit mostly early childhood development organisations, helping nurture future leaders. Nederburg will also participate in the 2026 barrel auction and donate a special experience to be revealed soon.

Tickets are on sale via Webtickets, starting at R650 for The Celebration Ticket and R3 150 for the full Wine Auction Brunch & Celebration. Corporate hospitality packages are also available.
