Cape Town marked a historic milestone today, 23 September 2025, with the official launch of its first fully electric commercial boat. The unveiling, hosted by City Sightseeing Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront, signals a bold step forward in marine innovation and sustainable tourism.
The 32-seater vessel, now part of the City Sightseeing canal cruise fleet, was revealed in the presence of dignitaries and industry leaders, including V&A Waterfront CEO David Green. After two years of planning and development, the electric boat is ready to carry passengers along the tranquil waterways linking the Waterfront to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
