Remember, MyCiTi Is the Way to Go This Festive Season

As Cape Town gears up for a busy festive season, MyCiTi Bus is encouraging residents and visitors to make public transport their go-to option for getting around the city with ease, safety and convenience. Whether you’re exploring Cape Town’s iconic attractions, heading to the beach, or squeezing in late-night shopping after work, MyCiTi is keeping the city moving throughout the holidays.

Importantly, there will be no reduced services this festive season. MyCiTi buses will continue operating from morning until evening, seven days a week, ensuring reliable transport during one of the busiest times of the year.

According to the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, special emphasis has been placed on late-night services to support festive shopping and leisure activities. Extended operating hours have been introduced to accommodate customers visiting Canal Walk and the V&A Waterfront, while the popular Silwerstroomstrand beach and resort service is already running and will remain available until 4 January 2026.

Councillor Quintas highlighted that late-night services have been especially valuable for residents who are unable to shop during normal working hours, particularly with retailers extending their trading times over the festive period.

The dedicated Silwerstroomstrand holiday service will run daily on route 247 between Atlantis, Mamre and Silwerstroomstrand beach and resort until 4 January 2026, excluding 25 December. The service has been adjusted to provide a direct and more convenient connection for Mamre residents.
