Refuse Collection & Christmas Boxes – Festive Season Update (2025/26)

As we head into the festive season, here’s what residents need to know about waste services and Christmas box donations in Cape Town:

🗑️ Waste & Recycling Collection

Refuse and recycling services will continue as normal, including on public holidays:

📅 16 December 2025

📅 25 December 2025

📅 26 December 2025

📅 1 January 2026

✅ Please put bins out as early as possible and leave them out until 21:00.

⚠️ If your bin is not collected, place it out again daily. Only report it after 48 hours.

🌍 Keep Cape Town Clean

Let’s avoid illegal dumping and take pride in our neighbourhoods. Use Bingo bins at beaches, parks and public spaces.

💬 “As we enjoy the festive season together, we urge residents to look after our neighbourhoods and shared spaces,” said Alderman Grant Twigg, Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management.

🎁 Christmas Boxes & Donations

• Residents are not obliged to give cash or Christmas boxes

• City policy prohibits staff and contractors from asking for donations

• Voluntary donations are allowed, but solicitation is not

🚨 Any staff requesting donations should be reported. Please provide the vehicle registration number, date and time.

⚠️ Be alert to imposters posing as City staff — report suspected fraud to SAPS.

Thank you for helping keep Cape Town clean, safe and well-managed this festive season. 🌟
