Get ready for romance, laughter, and nostalgia — Pretty Woman: The Musical is set to make its long-awaited South African debut in 2026. The dazzling stage adaptation of the beloved 1990 film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere will open at Artscape, Cape Town on 18 March, before heading to Montecasino’s Teatro in Johannesburg from 24 April.
This internationally acclaimed musical, produced by Showtime Management in association with Crossroads Live North America, promises a spectacular local production featuring an all–South African cast, crew, and band under a combined creative team from South Africa and abroad.
Brimming with warmth, humour, and romance, the show follows the unlikely love story of Vivian and Edward, capturing the charm and heart of the original film while reimagining it for the stage. The musical features songs by Grammy Award-winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, including the iconic “Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison and Bill Dee, alongside an original score blending ballads, pop, and rock-infused showpieces.
After breaking box office records on Broadway and in the West End, Pretty Woman: The Musical now brings its sparkle and feel-good energy to South Africa. Audiences can look forward to high-energy ensemble numbers, glamorous costumes, and a soundtrack that’s pure nostalgia.
