Hyundai Brings World Cup Spirit to South Africa with #HyundaiFootballFriday Initiative

As the FIFA World Cup 2026 gets underway, Hyundai Automotive South Africa is embracing the excitement of football through a nationwide employee initiative designed to celebrate the tournament while reinforcing the company’s connection to one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

The company has launched its #HyundaiFootballFriday campaign, encouraging employees to wear football jerseys on Fridays throughout the World Cup period. Particular emphasis will be placed on supporting Bafana Bafana, with staff invited to wear South Africa’s national team colours on match days.

The initiative coincides with Hyundai Motor’s role as FIFA’s Official Mobility Partner for the tournament. For the 2026 edition of the World Cup, Hyundai is deploying 1,500 vehicles across the United States, Canada and Mexico, including 994 passenger vehicles and 506 buses. The fleet will assist in transporting teams, officials, media representatives, guests and tournament personnel between venues and host cities.

While employees at Hyundai dealerships will continue to wear approved corporate uniforms, dealerships across the country are being encouraged to participate through football-themed displays, South African flags and match-day activations that reflect the festive atmosphere surrounding the tournament.

According to Hyundai Automotive South Africa, the campaign is intended to foster a sense of unity and national pride among employees while highlighting the broader role Hyundai plays on the global stage. The initiative also provides an opportunity for staff across the company’s network to feel connected to an event watched by millions around the world.

With the FIFA World Cup now in full swing, Hyundai’s local campaign is set to bring a distinctly South African flavour to football’s biggest celebration.
