Geely Auto South Africa has announced that its next-generation all-electric SUV, the Geely E5, will receive its first global over-the-air (OTA) update in 2026, with South Africa included in the international rollout.
The update focuses on enhancing everyday user experience, with improvements spanning intelligent connectivity, ease of use, system responsiveness and safety-related optimisation. As a key model in Geely Auto’s global strategy, the E5 continues to evolve through software-driven innovation designed around real-world usability.
Three major enhancements form part of this latest update. Drivers will now benefit from Android Auto in-car connectivity, allowing broader smartphone integration. The system also introduces customisable AVAS low-speed alert sounds, offering three selectable audio profiles tailored to driver preference. In addition, a new Drive Setup one-touch activation feature enables motorists to quickly adjust multiple intelligent driving functions.
Built on Geely’s advanced GEA platform, the E5 incorporates the GEEA 3.0 electronic and electrical architecture. This centralised computing framework enhances system responsiveness and stability while enabling continuous whole-vehicle OTA updates. The approach ensures that the intelligent cockpit and in-vehicle ecosystem remain current throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.
The Geely E5 has already earned international recognition, including the Best Interior Design accolade from the Turin Automotive Design Award, and five-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP.
With this latest update, Geely reinforces its commitment to smarter, safer and more sustainable mobility for South African drivers.
