This was a requirement of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996) which the City has been directed to implement. The City sought clarity on certain aspects from the relevant authorities.
The City has been informed that the implementation would no longer come into effect on 1 November 2025. The City will continue to engage the authorities and seek clarity.
Following the successful conclusion of engagements, a new directive will be issued in the new year.
