With charging infrastructure still developing and long-distance travel a regular necessity for many motorists, SHS plug-in hybrids offer a practical alternative to fully electric vehicles. Combining a high-efficiency petrol engine, dedicated hybrid transmission and high-performance battery pack, the system delivers an “electric-first, petrol-assisted” driving experience without compromising on range or power.
The SHS engine achieves an impressive 44.5% thermal efficiency, while EV-mode transmission efficiency reaches up to 98.5%, ensuring smooth urban commuting with minimal fuel consumption. Smart energy management coordinates electric and petrol power to maintain consistent acceleration and efficiency.
Global testing across 16 countries has demonstrated the system’s durability and adaptability. Real-world results have exceeded 1,200 km total range, with fuel consumption as low as 6L/100 km in extended-range mode. The C9 SHS stands out with a formidable 440 kW and 915 N.m of torque, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
The current local lineup includes the C9 SHS and J7 SHS, alongside the C7 SHS, each offering strong electric-only ranges — up to 150 km in the C9 SHS. Additional models, including the C5 and J5 hybrids, are set to expand the range further in the coming months.
